Nigerian afrobeats singer, Mayorkun has returned to the music scene after a long while with the release of a new album which he titles “Still The Mayor”.
The new album has guest features from his former record label boss, Davido and Nigerian afrobeat sensation, Fireboy.
He also features Ghananian artist, King Promise and Olivetheboy as well as American-Nigerian singer and actor Rotimi, and also Nigerian rappers Dremo and Michii.
The album is a 12 tracker and was released on 13th June, 2025, and it happens to be the third studio album dropped by the artists after taking a decade break from the music scene.
Before dropping the album, the hitmaker released a single off it titled “Reason 2 Japa” earlier in April of this year.
Reviewing the single, Reason 2 Japa, Taculia Entertainment discovered that Mayorkun’s focus on the song is targeted against the socio-economic reality that is currently facing the country Nigeria, which is forcing so many people to relocate to other countries in the hope of a greener pasture.
In the song the hit singer asks rhetorically “tell me the reason not to japa?” and this lyric directly questions the challenges of living in a country whose political leaders cntinue to wash down the dreams of yung Nigerians with their dictatorship form of leading.
It could be recalled that Mayorkun has not released any album ever since he dropped his last EP in 2023 which was titled “Love For Free” and had chart-topping songs like “For Daddy” and “Low Key”.
