Nollywood Actress, Bukky Wright Makes A Come-Back To The Industry.

After being away from Nollywood for nearly two decades, talented veteran actress, Bukky Wright has returned and we hope this time she is here to stay.

Wright, who has spent over fifteen years in diaspora made a recent revelation about her plans to play significant roles in the Nigerian film industry, and this, she says, will open a new chapter in her movie career.

Bukky was filled with so much gratitude while she was expressing her experience of being back on set, most especially to movie director, Bukola Ogunsola, for making her come back possible.

She says “It felt really good. It actually gave me the opportunity to see all these people again. I haven’t seen them in years,” she said as she recounted reuniting with familiar faces in the industry.

Being away for two decades might seem daunting for some actors but for Bukky Wright, acting is her mission in this life. She believes her talent is innate and it’s a gift she will carry with her to the grave.

“Although I take on minor roles, but I’ll tell you one thing: if it’s inbuilt, then it’s inbuilt. Nothing can take it away from you,” she said.

Her performance in the movie Something About the Briggs testifies to this. Thus it is not just a fleeting appearance for Bukky; because she is more than committed to reigniting her career in Nigeria.

“I’ll stay. I’m going to do more movies in Nigeria here during my stay. I have more projects coming, and I’m here to stay,” she continued.

Her return will mark a significant moment for Nollywood, which kept evolving tremendously without her presence. With more sophisticated storytelling, global recognition, and diverse platforms, the Nollywood industry is undoubtedly different.

Since her debut in 1996, Bukky Wright has appeared in the following classics: Saworoide (1999) to contemporary favourites like Iyore (2014) and When LovHappens (2014), her filmography reflects a legacy.
